TCEP, Telpochcalli Community Education Project is located in the Little Village neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. Formed in 1998 by a group of parents and teachers committed to addressing the lack of social, cultural and educational resources available to families in Little Village and for the families of the Telpochcalli School. In 2002, Tcep formally organized as a nonprofit community-based organization. In 2003, Tcep worked with neighborhood youth to form SITY (Stop Ignoring the Youth) Ollin “movement” in the Nahuatl language) to focus on community organizing for youth. For the past 3 years, The Little Village Summer Youth Institute, organized by SITY OLLIN, has trained youth ages 16-21 on mobilizing around social justice through individual capacity, collective power, mutual responsibility, cultural relevancy and community directed education.
