Because of this page (and its success) I was interviewed yesterday and will be in a magazine here in New York City! Cool, huh!?
In October of last year, I started this #gofundme page with hopes of receiving gifts for my birthday as donations towards my big move to New York. Well, it worked! A year later, I live in NYC! Thank You to my friends and family that sent me gifts, I really appreciate your support, kindness, and willingness to give! Much LOVE, y'all!
I've been dreaming of this day since my 8th grade Summer trip to the Big Apple... The day I move to New York City and that day is tomorrow!!! Thanks to all of my Family, Friends, and Students who've supported me in this big move. LOVE you all hope you visit me in NYC soon:)
Bonjour from Paris! Just thought I'd check in with you all! We are loving it here...Art museums, Cathedrals, walking a lot, trying to communicate in French (way harder than I imagined), eating great food, meeting new people, and discovering wonderful areas all around Paris. We are here for 3 more weeks and I can't wait to see where all we go!

Hey friends & family!
I haven't been to this page in a while so I thought I'd say hello and THANKS again for all of your support....Friendly advise, helping us move, housing me, connections in New York, and the financial support of giving to this GoFundMe account is verrrrrrry very appreciated.
Derick and I just moved to San Antonio and May is shaping up to be extremely busy with teaching in Austin/San Antonio/Houston, weddings, graduations, Kerrville Folk Fest, and then off to Paris!!! We plan to live like locals and be one with the Art and Artists while also being adventurous traveling other areas of France. In July we will find ourselves immersed in the Spanish culture of Bacelona and Run with The Bulls. Or watch from a balcony!!! Haha;)
I'm so exited for new experiences, to learn, create, and get inspired about Life, Art, and Dance before we settle in New York for a few years.
I plan to blog the trip so, stay tuned for our crazy adventures!
I hope 2013 has started of with a BANG, in a good way! Life is moving very fast over here for the Nail & Van Ness residence. Traveling, working, competing, living life to the fullest and planning the big move!!!
Here is the latest "Move to NY" plan...
Our lease in Austin is up April 30th, 2013. As of now we plan to go to NY and find a sublet option possibly with roommates. Something temporary until we find the perfect apartment in the area we want to live in. I'm hoping for The Lower East Side, or somewhere near my cousins:) Meanwhile, back in the Lone Star State we are wanting to have a booth and sell our Artwork at The Kerrville Folk Festival. The KFF last 3 weeks from the end of May to early June. That means we will need to be here in Texas during that time. As of now it looks like by late June or early July I will finally be able to say "I live in NY". Yaaay! I can not wait!
I'm getting super excited but kind of nervous because between to two of us, we have A LOT of stuff. Way too much to take with us to our tiny new living space in NY. It's time for a major closet clean out and a get rid of everything you haven't used or don't need party!!!
Much love and happiness to you all in this new year and new journey of living!
I'm headed to NY tomorrow...just for a visit!
I will be hanging out with my cousins and friends, visiting central park, art galleries, UCB (Improv comedy theater), Dance studios, and scoping out a place to live. Yaaay, next year at this time I will be living in the big apple! I can not wait.
Thanks for all the love and support along the way.
Much love <3
When I tell people I want to live in New York they always say one of 2 things; "It's so expensive, why do you want to live there?" Or "I've slways wanted to live there." So, yes, I do realize the cost, but I have some plans to make it work. If you can make it in NY, you can make it anywhere!
My New York survival goals:
Show my art work in galleries, coffee shops, etc...
Play Improv and take classes @ Upright Citizens Brigade
Learn the city.
Take Yoga classes (and maybe even get certified).
Take Art classes.
By donating to my NY Dream Fund you can help me to reach my goals. $5, $10, $25, $50... It ALL helps and I appreciate you all reading this and supporting me in my new adventure. Whether its verbal, emotional, or financial support, I am greatfull!
YES!!! I'm etting closer to my goal. I'm currently at 22%. Thanks guys, it really means allot to me;)
I'm looking forward to visiting NY in November. When I'm there I plan on visiting studios to find one to work at AND I will check out the Upright Citizens Brigade. I definitely want to continue my Improv training wile in NY because hey, let's face it, you may see me on Saturday Night Live one day!
I am soooo excited and overwhelmed with joy because of the people I have in my life.
Thank you for being there for me and helping me to finally go after a dream I've had for a LONG time.
Much LOVE my friends;)
Hello, My name is Jessica Ann Nail. Some call me JesAnn;)
I have been dreaming of living in New York City since my first visit in 8th grade. I love the energy. I love all the loud city noises. I love walking in herds of people, going places with different hopes and dreams but sharing the same place and time. I love the Art, the Culture, the buildings, the sights. But most of all I love the idea of me moving there to Live. Be. Create. Love. Dance. Dream. Learn and Grow.
My New York survival goals: Teach Dance. Show my art work in galleries, coffee shops, etc... Play Improv and take classes @ Upright Citizens Brigade Learn the city. Make friends. Take Yoga classes (and maybe even get certified). Take Art classes.
This is a wish list for my family, friends, and fans (if I have any;)) to help me financially make the move.
I wish I would have known about this donation service when I moved to the Virgin Islands :) ...What an amazing adventure you have in store for your future! Dream big my friend, the best of luck to you and all of the extraordinary experiences you are soon to have!
