The NewYorkCrew is an ambitious sport NGO, which aims to bring about social change through the use of sports.
In order to reach these goals, we have decided to take an active role in using sports to increase social benefits in our community and our first project consists of a digital sports platform, provided with an interactive map. Website visitors will be able to create user profiles, share inspirational stories and give advice or recommendations of content to each other, but most importantly, users will be able to add themselves to the interactive map, by filling out a form and publicly sharing their location and the sports they practice. This will enable sports enthusiasts to find others mapping the same interests.
It will have a huge social impact and will lead to many meetings and organized sports events. The network will serve as a bridge between people practicing the same sports, and the innovative technology will help us make that bridge as short as possible. Not only will this do social good by bringing people together in a strong, united community, but people will also be encouraged to take up different sports and people will now engage in a much wider range of activities, therefore a promising future for sports will gain momentum. Moreover, because of their exposures to computer devices, children nowadays are losing simple motor development skills. But now we will be able to make them use these devices wisely and change their current way of living, by increasing their interest in sport.
In order to create the platform, 5000 euros will be needed. At the moment, we are looking for sponsors. The next step will be an extension to the platform - a professionally-looking smartphone application.
Since the advent of modern Olympics in 1896, athletes have shown that sports enable people to come together in an effort to bring about global peace. After the platform is created and a strong community is formed, we will be able to mobilize people quickly and organize sports events for charity. Our first such event will be a marathon, where people will be running for charity, after having chosen the one they would like to support from the list provided on the platform.
