Naing Myanmar Family Restaurant

Donation protected
Naing Myanmar Family Restaurant is a small family-owned restaurant currently located at 3308 S. Cedar Street in Lansing, Michigan. The restaurant is owned by Mi Latt Thanda (who cooks) and her husband Moe Naing Israel (who serves the food). They both work long hours at the restuarant, with the help of two part-time employees. Originally from Burma (Myanmar), they immigrated to the USA with the dream of opening a restuarant. Their little restaurant has become a popular place with a cult following, known for the delicious, fresh and well-prepared fresh food at extremely reasonable prices. They have two young children, Jason, 1, and Samuel, 10.

They have recently been forced to close their doors because their landlord refuses to pay the water bill. This hard-working immigrant family has no other source of income, and they cannot afford the lost income. The Lansing Board of Water and Light has shut off the water to the strip mall where they're located, leaving them no choice but to close their doors.

This family's American dream is being destroyed because of the actions of their landlord, Harpreet Singh and Prab Investments, who is not being cooperative.

Let's show this wonderful family some American hospitality and help them keep their dream (and their only source of income) alive, while at the same time keeping a wonderful restaurant up and running.

***I have received multiple messages encouraging me to increase the goal. The original goal I set was $3,000, which was simply an arbitrary number because I had to enter a goal and I had no idea this campaign would get the overwhelming response it did. I later raised the goal to $6,000, and still, the donations are pouring in.

After more thought and multiple messages from people encouraging me to do so, I raised the current goal to $10,000. How wonderful would it be to change the fortune of this wonderful family so much that they could easily afford to open in a newer and better location? $10,000 would go a very long way in helping this family with living expenses and business expenses that would be associated in such a move. Will we reach this goal? Maybe not, but I think it's a good goal!***

My goal is to give this family options to recover from this blow. They could use the money to help ends meet while things are being sorted out, or they could even use the funds to help open at a new location with a reputable landlord. All funds raised by this campaign will be given directly to Mi Latt Thanda and Moe Naing Israel to help them make ends meet and/or reopen in a new location.
