Help My Business Grow!

Hello my dear friends, both present and future!

This Is Me

My name is Megan E. Risk.  I am 27 years old and live in El Dorado County, CA.  By day, I am a sushi chef in a beautiful restaurant in El Dorado Hills. I work for and with people I adore. By night - and all other spare moments - I create. Whether it's drawing, painting, spinning yarn, crocheting, or dyeing wool, I am creating something or thinking of new ways to push my boundaries.

I grew up in Cameron Park, California and am one of the Ponderosa alumni. Every step of the way, from my first day in school to the last, I was in an art class. Art has always been part of my life. Even when my path in the art field was faced with maximum criticism, I never considered straying. I seldom feel better than when I am creating something.

Accomplishments

About four years ago, I became a little lost and quite depressed.  That's when I turned once again to my art supplies and yarn after a long creative dry spell.  I experimented with colors, textures, and yarn weights.  I drew pictures for friends.  As soon as one creation was finished, I was on to the next.  As long as my hands were moving, I was grounded.

With my spirits lifted, I began toying with the idea of selling my work online and through word-of-mouth.  With great success, I came to realize that I could actually do this for a living.  And so began the work and planning to launch my art and craft supply business!

I have gained a business license and a seller's permit and a resale license is in the works!  I will be ordering most of my wool and yarn from Kraemer Yarn in PA.  I have a small stockpile and have been quietly developing my online shop, located here, and my Facebook page over here. It's time to roll this ball down a steeper hill!

My Goal

With the money raised here, I will be able to purchase my last bit of major equipment to run efficiently - a spinning wheel. The spindles are awesome, and I love using them, but it just isn't as efficient as using a wheel. A decent spinning wheel runs anywhere from $500 to $800.

After that, I will be able to purchase technical business things like labels, a light box for photo shoots, business cards, shipping envelopes, and so on.

With the rest, I will purchase my initial stock or wool, natural yarn, more dye (I already have a few,) and any accessory bits for projects (tinsel for sparkly yarn, buttons, string for sewing, etc.)

I have aspirations of developing my store into a full on art supply shop, but I have decided to begin here, with yarn.

**I wish to be the go-to supplier for knitters and crocheters, buyers and creators, appreciators of crafts and artwork of all mediums.  Being based online, I am aiming for inexpensive and reliable shipping of high quality products.  Affordable is goal, because you shouldn't have to spend a fortune for something that nurtures your creativity.**

You shouldn't have to invest in something that you like.

That's my job.

And Finally...

Anyone who decides to help me out - THANK YOU!  This is a moment I will never forget and the smallest amount means so much to me!  With the creation of this account, I am showing how serious I am in making this a real, running business.  There is no one in this except me, unless you help me!
