Help for Magnus Mukoro's family

Donation protected
I am starting this fund to help out the family of a dear friend and colleague, Magnus Mukoro.  Magnus passed away on July 29th, 2015 from an accident while on vacation with his family.   Magnus was remembered for his big warm smile and his loving soul.  I hope that this fund can help his family and any other causes that he supported, as his wife see's fit.

Magnus worked for The Legal Aid Society of New York as a paralegal, but his work went beyond the standard 9 to 5 duties of an office.  He worked on many cases that affected society as a whole, including the DNA FRYE litigation in Brooklyn.  Not only did he fight hard for justice as an employee of The Legal Aid Society, he was a proud SEIU 1199 Delegate that worked hard to fight for his union brothers and sisters. Yet he didn’t stop there, he also co-founded and coached children’s soccer at Young Rock Soccer in Brooklyn.  He mentored many of the young children involved with his program. He is survived by his wife Sheridan, son Josiah, and 8 yr old daughter Marley. Magnus’ legacy will be felt by generations and he will be truly missed by many people.

These are just a few of the heartfelt memorials left by his colleagues:

 Jenny Cheung:

So sad to hear about the devastating loss of one of my closest friends at Legal Aid. No words can truly express how much he will be missed. Over the last 8 years, Mags sat at a desk outside my office -- sharing his salted fish and ackee with me whenever he stopped by his fav carribean restaurant on Flatbush ave on his way to work, telling me how proud he was to be called "papi," and not dad or daddy, by his 7 year old daughter, and expressing just how happy he was to be married, to be loved unconditionally by his wife, children, and soccer children. He reminded me to slow down and take it easy. He taught me how to do things in a law office, how to be a better person and lawyer. He was so smart, so down to earth -- always reading my openings and helping me prep my young clients for the grand jury. . . I will miss how he always managed to cheer me up whenever i was down... I will miss texting each other when we spotted available parking spaces on bergen street on a Monday or Tuesday. Most importantly, I will miss treating each other to lunch every other month or just strolling down Court Street to get coffee for me (tea only for him)....just plain old chatting about life, parenting, and politics. So many good memories of my dear friend. May you rest in peace.

Alex Smith:

This is exactly as I want to remember you. Exactly as I last experienced you. Magnus. Good soul.

Yesterday was a hard day at work, we lost a fellow Soldier/Brother/Father/Leader/Husband/Firestarter/Supporter/Coach - Magnus Mukoro. We're at work more than we're at home with our families. So, many of times, our co-workers become our families. Show love before its too late. Let folks know how much you appreciate them, before their gone. ‪#‎devastated ‪#‎Realbrothers ‪#‎beardedbro ‪#‎TheBloodJesus ‪#‎Countyoutblessings ‪#‎Livehard ‪#‎TheLordiswatching
