McKinney North Bulldog Tunnel

Dear Friends,

 This past football season was the best we’ve ever had at McKinney North High School.  Our boys and our coaches put their hearts and souls into an amazing season and made it all the way to the quarter finals.  They fought hard as a team and had each others’ back because they are more than a football team -- they are family…Bulldog Family. And at MNHS, family is everything.

 If you’ve been to our school parking lot, you’d be hard pressed not to notice the two special parking spaces where nobody is allowed to park.  Have you ever wondered what those spaces are all about? 

If you’ve been to one of our varsity football games, you may have noticed our Bulldog Tunnel.  The team runs through it to start off the game and again to start the second half.  You may have even noticed the numbers on the side of our Bulldog.  Have you ever wondered what those numbers stood for?

Those parking spaces and those numbers stand as a tribute to two fine young men, Matt Self and Austin York.  Matt and Austin both played for the MNHS football team.  In 2004, their lives were tragically ended and our community and school were forever changed.

In the fall of 2004, thanks to the generous donations of local residents and businesses, we were able to purchase our Bulldog Tunnel and honor the lives of Matt Self and Austin York.  It serves as a constant reminder to our players, our students, and our community that Bulldog Family is strong and we never forget our family.

After 10 years, our beloved Bulldog is on its last legs.  The Booster Club has been working hard to find a worthy replacement and we are excited to unveil the new Bulldog Tunnel.  Once again, we have been blessed with generous donations to help with the cost of the new tunnel, but we are not quite able to cover the entire cost. 

So we are asking for your help.  We hope that you will consider making a donation to help us purchase the new Bulldog Tunnel (MNHS Football Booster Club is a 501.3c organization and your donation is tax deductible).  With your help, we can continue to honor Matt and Austin and our entire Bulldog Family.
