Lori's 50th Birthday Fundraiser

It's my 50th Birthday!  To celebrate, I'm asking my friends, family and Downtown Dog Rescue supporters to consider donating to our cause, to support the Shelter Intervention Programs at the East Valley, North Central and South Los Angeles Shelters.  My goal is to raise $50,000 by April 1st to support the work these three programs are doing.  After being involved in animal welfare for almost 20 years, I believe keeping pets in their first home - forever home is one of the best investments one can make.  If I can raise $50,000, more families with pets, who think surrendering their cat, dog or rabbit to one of these three shelters, is their only option, will have an alternative.  The shelter intervention couselors offer low cost medical care, free spay/neuter, pay pet deposits, repair fencing/gates to keep dogs in their yards. pay for dog licenses, microchips, dog training and offer free humane euthanasia for terminally ill senior pets so they spend their last minutes with their family, not in a shelter in a cage alone.  Can you believe that the three programs combined have prevented close to 5000 pets from entering shelters since 2013!
A donation of even $10 will pay for a free vaccination, $50 can pay for a pet exam and medication, $75 will cover a spay/neuter surgery, $500 will pay for more serious medical care, often saving a pet's life.  I've dedicated my life to animal welfare and their is no greater gift than keeping a pet with their family.
