Veterans Outreach in Lincoln, NE

Donation protected
My biggest concern is Veterans who suffer from homelessness, Potential Homelessness, Alcoholism, Drug Abuse, Combat Injuries and PTSD. There is a large amount of homelessness, drug abuse and alcoholism among Veterans and military personnel who come home because of predators who take advantage of Veterans and their families in the form of Housing Loans, unfair labor practices and discrimination. I will be setting up a Veterans Outreach Center in Lancaster County, Nebraska to help not only personnel seperating from active duty, but also veterans who suffer from homelessness, alcoholism, drug abuse and PTSD. For too long this country has called upon their sons and daughters to go to war, and then throw them away.  Our veterans have become second class citizens because they are not needed anymore or that they do not feel needed or have a sense of purpose. With the government lacking in resources it is up to the Citizenry to step up to help our veterans regain their sense of purpose and pride not only in themselves but their families. Because veterans are at higher risk of alcoholism, drug-abuse, and suicide, the VA is not equipped nor competent in dealing with their needs or numbers. This has been proven by the recent scandals that have engulfed the media headlines.

America needs Veterans helping Veterans. not some incompetent desk jockey who has never seen war nor served in the military. Ideally This would be a hand up, not a hand out, to give veterans of Lancaster County a place to call their own and help them create a better quality of life for themselves and their families.
This is the initial funding for the foundation, and I will pursue other grants and revenues from the VA to help further the goals of the foundation.

Plans include
A Veteran's Center to help coordinate with local programs, Job Services, Veteran's Benefit programs, Legal Help through pro bono Lawyers and general help to veterans and their families,
A fund to help veterans keep their homes if they are evicted, Help with deposits for Housing and Utilities,
A food pantry with a preference for veteran families,
Help for veterans find decent healthcare for any mental and physical conditions,
A veteran's Health/Dental Clinic to help Veterans and their families to provide general medical and dental care on a sliding fee scale,
A Down Payment program to help Veterans gain home ownership, as well as a veteran's Home Loan program,
A Veteran's Learning Center in Conjunction with various OCW and Open Course Ware programs as well as Paying for the Certificates through Allison.com a free education site to help give them credentials and job skills,
A scholarship program to help Veterans gain training at local colleges
VeteranCorps which helps veterans to volunteer in community work here and abroad to utilize their skills and training to help others in need. It would be like a Peace Corps and the Americorps but with Veterans in mind rather than the general populace. It will give them a sense of purpose and duty as well as getting paid for their time,
A Small Business Grant Program for Veterans to start up or expand their businesses,
A Small Business Loan Program for Veteran's to Start up or Expand their businesses,
Counseling programs and groups for at risk Veterans and their families to help cope with PTSD, Drug Abuse, and Alcoholism
A thrift store to provide jobs for veterans, and general income to the general fund,
A Temporary Veteran's Homeless Shelter to provide shelter and meals to transient homeless Veterans
A Veterans Art Group and Gallery
A Chapel for Veterans, as I am a reverend with the Universal Life Church.

Plans also include adding  offices in surrounding counties and states, eventually going nationwide and  to purchase apartment complexes to help homeless veterans and families find a decent place to stay to help them get on their feet and eventually after regaining a productive place in society paying just below fair market value for rent which will go into the general fund to help other veterans. I will be working with section 8 housing as well as HUD Housing and Habitat for Humanity. Low Income Housing will also be provided for the general public and the moneys involved will be put into the general fund for the Veteran's Outreach Center.

All Loan Programs will be at 1% interest as I do not believe in Usury.

Rents will be as follows and will include Water and Electric:
Studios $250
1 Bedrooms $325
2 Bedrooms $400
3 Bedrooms $475
4 Bedrooms if available $550

They are below market value, because I do not believe in usury which the local landlords are guilty of. If there are businesses willing to donate complexes or a building to The Lancaster Veterans Out Reach Contact me via Facebook or Twitter.

I would also like to have paid positions for counselors, and social service personnel to help veterans find the help they need, and to help them find purpose. I would prefer veterans in these positions, as it is about veterans helping veterans.

I will be helping veterans in the off tax season to help them achieve help from agencies and start counseling groups for general support, PTSD, Alcoholism, and Drug Abuse. I am a war-time veteran and it will be my job to help veterans help themselves. I will also help homeless veterans and disabled veterans find the help that they might need. My fellow veterans need more advocates and sometimes help to keep a certain standard of living and a good quality of life.

For the jobs, I will give veterans a preferred status when considering current hiring, as well as in the future.

I am a retired Marine who has a fiance and two children still living with me. I received one Associate's Degree, three Bachelor's degrees, Three Master's Degrees and one Doctorate since I took early retirement in 2004. While the degrees give me a powerful position and standing, they also over-qualify me for regular jobs.

I wish to return to Lincoln because I went to the University of Nebraska where I received my first Bachelor's Degree of Business Administration in Information Systems Management. I did my other Bachelor's Degrees, my three Master's and my Doctoral Degree online. My Family is also situated there. My Father and little Sister live in Beatrice, My younger stepbrother lives in Norfolk, and my Baby Brother lives in Kearney. I also have several Neices and nephews who live in Lincoln, NE Area.

The funds will be used as follows:

This fundraiser will help jumpstart my goals.  We need to add jobs to the economy and help our veterans and while this isn't a huge addition it helps a little bit.  If we had more companies with goals like mine we can increase and build our economy, because it is small businesses like mine that provide 80% of the jobs in this country. The second point is that I will be providing fone valuable service to the local economy: Veterans Outreach.

Kindly share this with family, friends, colleagues, and other potential donators who are willing to help my goals come to fruition. You don't have to donate a lot of money, You can donate as little as $1.00 and every little bit helps. Reward Levels Start at $5.00

So Kindly DONATE today. You can donate as little as $1.00 up to $15,000. Larger Donations can be made offsite and they will be entered as received. I will provide a  Mailing Address as soon as I get relocated to Lincoln, Nebraska.
