LIBRARY PROJECT 2015 - 2016

To Our Potential Donors and Supporters:

As a genocidal Khmer Rouge regime survivor and during my long 10-year tenure as a refugee at the Khao-I-Dang refugee camp near the Thailand and Cambodia border, I encountered many obstacles and hardships.  During these times of darkness and not knowing what the future held for me, I developed a passion for reading and spent most of my time educating children there utilizing the limited resources that were offered at the camp.  I strongly believe in equal access to education.  More so, education is also the bridge to uplift and to empower people, especially our future generation with a powerful tool, knowledge while also in efforts to obliterate poverty. The long withstanding hopes and dreams were fulfilled with the golden opportunity to migrate to America, the Land of Opportunity.

With this, I strive to obtain the education; and therefore, give back to the underprivileged children of the Motherland that I can only dream of after experiencing atrocities in Cambodia.  Given my personal experiences back home, my passion for education and giving back to the community in my birth country, the Cambodian-Americans for Rural Education (CARE) Foundation, 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization was established on October 16th, 2014.   As a result, CARE Foundation seeks to build its first library, Library Project of 2015 in Takeo by the end of this year with a goal of $15,000.00 towards this campaign.  This project will provide a library for the underprivileged children in the rural village in Cambodia along with school supplies, uniforms, books and a warm atmosphere where the children can enjoy positive experiences and encourage them to pursue their educational endeavors.

With your generous contributions to help raise the needed funds to this campaign, it’s a step closer in making the dreams of those underprivileged children in Cambodia become a reality.  I sincerely hope I can count on your generosity in this great cause.  For inquiries and donations, you may contact us at [email redacted]
