Next Generation Farmers

We partnered with Monarch Beverage to grow produce on 7.6 acres of their land that is be donated back to the community through The Cupboard and The Sharing Place food pantries, senior communities and other areas that have a food need which are here in our neighborhood. The food pantries currently receive a huge amount of support from bigger corporations but  sometimes by the time they can receive and distribute healthy, fresh food to the community it has already started to expire. Our gardens will ensure access to locally grown fresh food that will be transported just under 5 miles from the garden to those pantries. Our works have already begun but we will need your support to make this garden a model for other communities around the nation.  Lawrence Community Gardens is a not-for-profit corporation. Our community-based organization is committed to making access to fresh food as close as the back yard. Our vision is to have everyone in our community create their own personal gardens, if only a small planter box that grows their favorite vegetable, and to start and maintain a community garden in our area where markets and grocery stores are not easily accessible. Our youth learn to feed thier families through thier own efforts and help to sustain the community we live in through our food donations to the local food pantries, churches, nursing homes, youth facilities and various other donation opportunities.  We plan to use our community garden as a classroom for youth groups, low income families, corporations, and anyone else who wants to learn about urban agriculture.   Teamwork is critical to the success of the garden!
