On Friday, August 17, 2012, Kristyana Jackson, born April 22, 2005, and her mother, Kimi, were rushed by three individuals in front of their home after arriving home from football game. John Jackson, Kristyana's dad, stepped outside after he heard his wife scream and was shot three times, taking two bullets on his left arm and one on his back. He was taken to Elkhart General Hospital, where he was treated and released late Friday night.
Kristyana passed away Sunday, August 19, 2012 at 1:40 p.m. after having had a surgery Saturday evening. Kimi decided to donate her daughter's kidneys and liver.
John and Kimi Jackson are amazing parents. It is sad that they are burring their 7 year-old daughter. No parent should ever have to burry their child, especially at age 7.
I am setting up this fund to help pay funeral expenses. With all the funeral expenses totaling well over $13,000, and the medical bills haven't even arrived.
Elkhart County ABATE of Indiana members are helping out anyway possible. Kimi and her parents are ABATE supporters. We are having a bike wash for her; our members donated almost $400.
I am the treasurer for Elkhart County ABATE of Indiana, and having just met the family, I am truely moved. I was able to have a church help fix bullet holes in the house. Friends cleaned up blood, so the family doesn't have to look at the horror of this awful incident daily.
If anyone is able to help, every penny counts. Everything is appreciated. Kimi and John are fond as to how many people are stepping up and helping out. They are not the type to ask for help. They are both upstanding people. I ahve been moved by them and hope you can be, too.
