Running for Peace in Kenya (MUKESCO)

MUKESCO is a cross-country race where everyone is welcome and everybody wins. It is an interfaith, intertribal, inter cultural international race to promote peace and community development through the sport of running. This crowd-funding campaign will ensure that every participant has an official race t-shirt.
The race will be held on Saturday September 28, 2013 in Eldoret, Kenya. We expect more than 2000 competitors from the 9 rural villages who, by participating in this race, are putting the bitter post-election violence behind them and forging a new and brighter future for their communities to compete for prizes of community assets, like water bores and school uniforms. The sponsors of the race include IUPUI, Moi University, Ball State University, Kip Keino, and others.
$50 Receive a personalized thank you from a member of the MUKESCO planning committee, which includes a number of famous Kenyan long-distance runners.
$100 Receive a personalized thank you from a Kenyan runner from one of the nine small rural villages in the Kessess Region in western Kenya. The interfaith, intertribal and international teams are made up of men and women and boys and girls, as well as the handicapped.
$500 Receive a poster of your race signed by a Kenyan champion when you give $500 or more. Sponsor the 12 kilometer, 8 km, 4km, 2km, or the 1km race, or the fun run.
$750 Receive a poster of members of your team. The teams are anchored in the 9 villages surrounding Moi University and are named for the building blocks of peace. You can sponsor the love, joy, hope, unity, trust, or other teams.
