Kenny's Harvard Study Trip

Donation protected

My name is Kenny and I’m a sophomore at Independence High School in Provo, Utah. Since I started school, I had always planned on joining the Navy S.E.A.Ls after graduating since it only requires a high school diploma. With my mom and stepdad working full time, I never had much push to study or really succeed in school. However, Teens Act changed that. This school year, I was put in the Teens Act Student Success Class. In the class, I learned about my worth and potential as a teen and as a student. The mentors taught us to set daily and weekly goals and the ways to go about achieving them. For pretty much the first time, I learned to be studious and made an effort to spend time after school studying and completing my assignments.

In December, something incredible happened. I received a letter in the mail telling me that I was nominated to attend the 2015 Congress of Future Medical Leaders in Boston, MA--one of the most prestigious invitations for teens in the United States. The invitation was a confirmation of the value of my newfound study efforts and habits. All my hard work has really paid off. I can more fully see the potential that I have as a student. I knows that I can set goals, meet them, and further succeed in what I want to do--go to college and become a doctor.

On my own, I was able to raise $130 toward my trip, and because of my financial situation, I was awarded a $450 scholarship toward tuition. However, I can’t afford the rest of the tuition and the airfare on my own. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I am humbly asking for your help. I hope to raise the $1,700 to cover the rest of the costs. I also want to raise $1,800 to pay for all the necessary materials for the entire sophomore class who will participate in the Teens Act program at Independence High School next year. Because I partnered with Teens Act in this campaign, all of your donations will be tax deductible. I will send a personal thank you card and report of my trip to every single donor. Also, I'll be sharing my experiences at the 2015 Teens Act Annual Gala on November 6, 2015, at the Nu Skin Innovation Center in Provo, Utah, and Teens Act will give a free gala ticket to those who donate $150.

I would be so grateful to know that people care enough to help. Because others are willing to help me in my time of need, I will graduate for them and become someone who helps the community. Please help me get to the 2015 Congress of Future Medical Leaders. Thank you!
