Kennedy's is off to start the next chapter of her journey!
Kennedy was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) - any parent’s worst nightmare. Kennedy has been a proven fighter since her birth almost 4 years ago! Not only has she been a medical miracle, she has shocked many surgeons, specialists, and doctors with how she has thrived to a beautiful fun-loving little girl! She has beaten the odds many times! She beat 3 open heart surgeries and 4 other surgeries! Her spirit is strong! Kennedy spent much of her early years in hospitals hooked up to machines. Most of all, Kennedy is a blessing and miracle to her parents Beckey and Garey (Two truly wonderful people that I am blessed to have as friends!) Last week this family received devastating news. Kennedy's heart is much sicker than thought. Because of how sick Kennedy's heart is, she is not eligible for any additional surgeries to help her heart.
This brings her to her next chapter. On Friday, Beckey and Garey received a call that Kennedy has been officially accepted for a heart transplant at Lucile Packard/Stanford Children's Hospital in California. HOWEVER, Kennedy will not be on the list until they are living within 3 hours driving distance from the hospital. This GoFundMe account is created to help with moving, relocating and medical expenses that this next chapter necessitates. Those of you that live in Alaska know how much it costs to travel anywhere, let alone move and relocate out of state. Those of you that do not live in Alaska, I am sure you can imagine these costs to move and relocate your entire family! Kennedy will have to remain in California for at least 2 years after receiving her transplant.
Any amount you can give to help get this family on their way to California to get Kennedy on that list is greatly appreciated!
