Hello Everyone! I am so excited! I have been connected with a wonderful California photographer who is selling his slightly used Canon Mark III to me and this opportunity with him will give me a substantial savings of about $800. While my original goal was $3500, with your donations and my clients booking photography assignments with me, I am now just $400 within my goal.

This is my last request for your help. I am asking you one more time if you would be willing to help me complete my fundraising activities. Thank you so much for believing in and supporting my work. You are helping me achieve my goals and serve our community through my photography. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!

Leaping into fun!

Thank you to a very special private donor who I know will see this. I am very grateful for your generosity. I have been saving since February for the Mark III and bit by bit, we are getting closer. I feel like a chrysalis about to break through something big so I can fly. You and the 34 other contributors are my backbone to providing increasingly better services to my private photography clients and the community. Thank you.

A beautiful girl listening to music.

Love and companionship

Excerpts from my ORIGINAL POSTS that explain why I started this fundraiser: (February and March 2013)

Hello. Thank you very much for visiting here. I'm a single mom who has been building my event photography business for the last 6 years while working a full time job. My business has grown tremendously and I'm at a point where I realize it is critical to have a second camera body and a high quality telephoto lens.

I learned this lesson a few weeks back when my current camera (a Canon 7D) "died" at the start of a photo gig in which the Tucson Mayor was an honored guest. Fortunately, a friend was able to lend me his camera body so I could complete my obligation. I was able to get my camera repaired and now I am saving towards having a back up camera.

I continue to be focused and determined to be a full time private event photographer. I have what it takes to document the life of a Head of State, or following the last months of a terminally ill person and the effects of her dying process on her family, or documenting the cultures of the world. I visually tell the whole story of any given event or situation as any of my clients will agree.

With a Mark III Canon body as my primary work tool, my 7D can become my back-up camera for events that require 2 cameras. Right now, almost every photography job I have requires me to continuously change out my wide and telephoto camera lens on my 7D. I will continue to do just that until I am able to afford the Mark III. With your help, I am getting closer and closer.

Thank you again so much for believing in me. At age 53, I am finally recognizing what gift I can give others through my ability to photographically document their life events in a way that is authentic and lasting.

Very special offer for up to 4 donors: Do you know anyone who is getting married? For a $750 donation to my camera fund, I will photograph your loved one's wedding which is valued at $1500. This will include up to 8 hours photography, post production work (20-25 hours), ALL of the digital files and a web gallery for viewing. Travel not included. That is 50% off my regular wedding fees!!! I would be delighted to serve you in this way and with your help, I will be able to do so with my new camera! To view samples of my wedding photography click here.

Update 06/24/13....today is my 53rd birthday. One of my birthday wishes is to purchase a Canon Mark III camera body which will become my primary photography tool. Between your support and what I have been able to save, I am less than $1000 to my goal. It has been a life lesson to ask for and receive support. I am asking and I am receiving. It is a great honor to document who you are and what you do to make this world revolve and evolve. Thank you, thank you, thank you for helping me grow and be a better version of myself every day. I wish to give and serve the same to you always.

UPDATE ON 06/17/13 Oh my goodness, we are getting so close! With the kind donations from 32 people and money that I have saved from recent photography gigs, I am within $1000 of my goal to purchase a Canon Mark III camera body.....with the funds you see here, we are now at $2500!

We started this campaign 4 months ago so it has been a gentle, positive and steadfast movement forward. I say the word, "we" intentionally because each of you who have contribute and will contribute are my partners who allow me the tremendous honor and opportunity to document the lives and activities of people, currently here locally in the United States and eventually around the world. Thank you.

UPDATE 05/14/13:
Thank you for all your help so far. I am eternally grateful. I am just about 1/3rd the way to having the funds to acquire a $3500 Canon Mark III camera body to enhance my photography business and marketability.

Ever-evolving since my original GoFundMe post in March and like the tortoise moving slowly and gently yet with dogged-dedication towards her goals, let me fill you in on what has been happening:

Accomplished since March 2013:
1. Attended the Wedding and Portrait Photographers Institute in Las Vegas with the help of my cousin Bob Higgins. Boy, what a gift that was! I learned so much and received a lot of affirmation about the quality of my photography work.

2. Updated my photography web site and developed a beginning blog: www.esensphotography.com

3. Created some music slide shows to go with my client photography work and in the process of developing a YouTube page: Earth Walk Video and Liz and Nate Wedding Video

4. Continued to photograph many gigs such as weddings, community events, all of the track competitions of a Tucson-based high school, senior portraits, live musician performances and realty property assignments with my refurbished Canon 7D. I have also donated multiple photography gigs for non-profits and other single parents trying to develop their own businesses.

5. Developed my public Facebook fan page from just over 400 fans in December 2012 to now over 2300 from the United States and more than half from other parts of the world including Italy, France, Japan, Australia and England. My Facebook address has been changed to: www.facebook.com/EsensPhotographyByKathleenDreier

I've completed all of this since March while working my full time day time as a social worker and being a single mom to my 16-year old son. Honestly, this is how I have been living since I began my photography career about 6 years ago. Running on sheer grit, faith, not enough sleep, growing self-confidence, continuous learning, and the support of many kind people like you.

At age 52, I am finally recognizing what gift I can give others through my ability to photographically document their life events in a way that is authentic and lasting.

ORIGINAL POST: (Feb/March 2013)

The money you donate is ear-marked for these items:

Canon 5D Mark II camera body: $2500 plus tax (May 2013...I now recognize the importance of having a Mark III due to the sports photography and other work I do that requires a very fast shutter speed).

EF 70-200mm f/2.8 Telephoto Zoom Lens: $1400 plus tax or $2500 for the image stabilizing version

Various camera accessories such as batteries, speedlight, flash cards, lens hood: $1000

All donors will be given photo gifts as listed below and my heartfelt gratitude.
