Neighborhood Beautification Project

The mission of “The Neighborhood Beautification Project” (NBP) is to donate fine art to  those who need it most. The NBP art donation program is available to public venues in low-income neighborhoods and organizations who help underserved populations. 
Your contribution will help to bring art to people in inner cities who cannot afford to go to galleries and museums. Any public venue that supports a low-income community (medical center, recreation center, non-profit, church, school, library, etc.) is eligible to apply for an art donation (see form below). We encourage nominations. If you know of an organization that would benefit from the art, please let us know.
The idea came when I recently loaned my fine art photographs to a local library that was not in an affluent neighborhood. After I hung the pictures I saw the faces of some of the people who were there. I can only describe their reactions as utter amazement.  Me and my mischievous friend who helped me to drop off the artwork decided to hide in the bushes outside and spy on the onlookers to see what would happen. I could see that people were genuinely interested and took the time to stop and ponder. At one point, I saw a little girl climbing on the chairs to get a closer look. It was like she did not believe what she was seeing.  She made a motion as if she were reaching inside the picture. I felt like the pictures sparked her imagination and for a brief moment she left her surroundings and ventured into another realm. That was a eureka moment for me.  For someone who lives in a poor neighborhood beautiful art could be the only escape they have on any given day.  It has also been very well documented that art has a positive impact on communities, inspires and motivates.

My images are very ethereal and the prints are large format canvasses that are up to 5 feet wide. They have quite the wow factor. The current library said it has been a real head turner. I have been told by numerous people who have seen the pictures that they are very excited to have the exhibit. Everyone deserves to enjoy beautiful art regardless of income or zip code. As Picasso said, "Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life". Art gives us respite from a world that seems to be going increasingly mad.


The purpose of the crowdfunding campaign is to pay the vendors who make the prints because I do not expect to recover expenses through sales. These are five feet wide museum quality giclee canvas prints and no expense is being spared. I am currently in one library, and if I make my fundraising goal I can find other venues in poor neighborhoods who would like to have artwork to brighten their spaces. If I exceed my goal, I will donate to as many venues as possible  and expand the campaign to include other artists and photographers. ALL donations $399 and higher will have your name listed on the "Wall of Fame" (optional). Your name is included on the label that is next to the hanging artwork of exhibits you have funded. You will be sent a picture showing your name on the wall.
