John Mayer Cat's Surgery

Named after the great John Mayer, John, the cat, is suffering from Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD). This is actually a fairly common disease amongst cats, but John's story is a little different.

About a month ago, I took John to the vet for that I thought was just inappropriate tinkling around the house. Turns out, John had just started to build up a blockage in his bladder. The vet performed a procedure to unblock him, kept him overnight for 2 nights, and then sent him home. I followed all the aftercare instructions and things seems to be going well.


Then, on October 1st, I saw the symptoms of another blockage. I took John to the vet first thing in the morning. Unfortunately, he was blocked up again. The vet performed the same procedure and kept him overnight again for 2 nights. He was originally supposed to come home October 4th, but the vet called and said that John had blocked again for a third time. He said my options were to perform the procedure and run the risk of him blocking again, or perform a surgery. The surgery has a 99% success rate. I opted for the surgery.


I want my kitty to have the best, I raised him from a kitten, and I couldn't imagine life without him. He's such a goofball and has so much personality.


The first unblocking procedure cost close to $400. I know the surgery is going to cost close to $700. This doesn't include the other 2 unblocking procedures, medicines, or overnight costs. I don't have a regular 9-5 job, I work a lot of odd jobs 7 days a week in order to pay for gas, college, and to care for my other animals.
I know money is tight for everyone, but if you could donate just a few dollars, it'd really help me out.
