Jenny Needs A Hand

Hi. This is my friend Jenny.

I just found out about this, as she is not one to complain or ask for help, but Jenny's hit upon some hard times. She has a bad heart, a bad back that workman's comp couldn't fix, is uninsured, and has been unemployed since she had a triple-bypass in 2008. While she's a very hard worker, those health problems have taken their toll... she's currently working part-time minimum wage for about $80 a week to pay for gas and a few meals.

Jenny just spent a year living with her father to care for him 24/7 until he passed away. And now, at 60 years old, she's living in her car with her dog Cubbie.

You see, Jenny owes the City of Milwaukee $35,000 in back taxes. Tragically, the late penalties and interest accrued are FAR more than the tax debt itself.

Today she faces a decision: Lose her house to tax foreclosure, or sell it to a circling "house vulture" whose offer will net her about $5,000 — for an entire home.

Unless we can help her.

The Tax Man wants his money by noon on the 22nd of May 2015. Raising $35,000 in this short amount of time is a tall order, yes — but every bit helps and even if we don't save her house whatever we do raise will go towards helping keep Jenny and Cubbie off the streets — and hopefully back on their feet soon.
