Our all-volunteer team helps us to stretch every donation as far as possible. Donations and volunteer support are CRUCIAL and keep our no-kill shelter in Fukushima running! We have some generous individual donors/contributors, and our monthly budget is low...but we still need to raise $500 more per month for more reliable sustainability. Our organization helps people help pets! There are many individual animal rescuers and carers throughout Japan, who regularly depend on our assistance, advice, and support to do kind work for pets. Our animal shelter and rescue base in Fukushima was started in this spirit, in order to help evacuees with pet concerns. Since March 2011, we have helped to organize teams rescuing over 600 animals. And we are still in Fukushima.
We continue to work with local support teams and evacuees who go into the evacuated areas of Fukushima to feed and rescue the many left behind cat/dogs still living in these areas. Many of these pets have become fearful and difficult to catch, but will starve without regular visits/assistance. Animals that can be caught are sheltered, rehabilitated, and if socialized, they eventually reach our goal of a "fur"ever family. We also do our best to find foster families for these amazing survivors! Which helps keep our shelter occupancy below 50 animals to minimize risk of illness, provides more love/socialization within a family and helps to keep donations used where they are most needed.
Our mission is to continue sharing the importance of rescue work, spay & neuter programs, and more shelters throughout Japan, to create impactful social change.
