JLS Scholarship Fund

This scholarship program has been initiated in honor of Joan Levine-Stewart.  Joan was known in the Rochester area to many young people as 'Mama Joan'.  She was married to Pastor David Stewart of Destiny Preparation Church for over 25 years.  Together they had one son and two daugthers.  But Joan's influence went far beyond her housedhold and ever her church.

For 11 years Joan poured herself into the ministry, serving as a minister, teacher, event coordinator, promotions and marketing coordinator, Trustee, leader and developer of leaders.  Of all the things she did, generally behind the scenes, there was nothing more precious than the efforts she made toward helping young people. It was her passion.  Throughout her Rochester years, Joan reached out personally to help numerous young men and women throughout the Rochester area.

The passion that she displayed towards helping young people find their way is the source of strength for this scholarship fund.  The fund is intended to help youth entering college looking to do something powerful with their lives.  As of 2016 this fund will provide annual scholarships to young people striving to improve themselves through college.  We need your support to maintain and grow this scholarship effort.  If you know of a High School Senior in need of financial support, connect to our facebook page, www. facebook.com/JLSScholarship for more information on how to submit.
