The Shul Needs a New Water Heater!
Congregation Sons of Israel, a shul located in rural Franklin County, PA (Chambersburg),was founded in 1840. It flourished for many years, supported by a vibrant congregation of 65 families. Due to changing demographics and time, our membership has dwindled to 28 families. We are seeking funds to pay our Rabbi's salary of $21,000 per year. He is available for Shabbat Services two times per month, High Holiday Services, Yom Hashoah Services, as well as most Jewish holidays and celebrations. He presides over funerals and baby namings. For many years, the congregation has been the only Jewish presence in a 3 county area of southcentral Pennsylvania. The water heater is slowly but surely declining in functionality. This decreases the kitchen functionality, and with numerous events throughout the year requiring hot water, we want to keep our building up and going at the best rate possible!
