When the words cervical cancer got dropped on me in July 2012, two immediate worries set heavy on my chest, "Where else is it?" and "I won't be able to be a mother." I remember the fear, the sadness, and the big black hole of uncertainty. When you realize you are truly a mortal being and life can be taken away from you at any given moment, a huge shift inevitably occurs. The fight for life turns on, a grey fog layers your harsh new reality, and making it to tomorrow is the only thing that matters.
In those grey days of cancer, we did not think about the price tag that accompanied each scan or medical procedure. We did not check the bank account to see if we could afford the extra 4 days in the hospital. We did not say "no" to supplemental treatment because insurance wouldn't cover it. And I did not think twice when the option to preserve my fertility - my legacy - came into the equation. We did what we had to in order to survive...to create life.
Now, 2 years post-surgery, I can feel the weight lifting. I have my health (#cancerfree!). I have my spirit. I have visions and goals. I have 18 frozen eggs (little mini-mes) awaiting their match. My soul is shifting away from fear and closer to love once again.
But I need your help to move further into this new life I'm creating.
There are steep medical bills that are weighing heavily on my parents and me. Your donation, in any amount, will take me closer to full CANCER RECOVERY and allow me to make my intended mark on this world! It's incredible how far cancer can take you down - heart, soul, body, and mind. The burden of this debt is a major life stressor that I hope to be released from soon.
