Hope for Moki

If you have the time please take a few minutes to read this quick article and find out how you can help out a puppy in need. If you decided to keep reading then you must have a special place in your heart for animals like we do. Social media is filled with beautiful rescue stories about amazing people doing what then can to save animals and finding them forever homes, but it's not always pretty, sometimes it's filled with heartbreak, expensive vet bills and unanswered questions. Although one thing stays consistent, the memories that are made by these precious animals are ones that stay in the hearts forever.

We adopted Moki, our German Shepard puppy when he was three months old. Being the first puppy we adopted in years we expected him to be rambunctious but he was calm and lethargic, after multiple vet visits Moki was diagnosed with Severe subaortic stenosis and mitral valve dysplasia at four months old. Moki has multiple things wrong with his heart, all which are extremely rare. Along with he disease comes the fear that Moki may never wake up, without signs or symptoms. The Vet predicts he will live to about three years old and the only way to prolong his life is with surgery. A catheter procedure can be preformed in an attempt to decrease the severity of the stenosis. A medical option designed to attempt to decrease the severity of the disease. At this point in time we would greatly appreciate help because of the price of his surgery, the procedure would cost a total of $6,000. For the past 20 years we have been saving animals with health issues and special needs. During this time we also are trying to help our other German Shepard who've we had for 10 years now with hip issues and who will eventually need surgery as well. We are heartbroken that our puppy may not live much longer then three but we are happy to provide him a loving home and great quality of life until then. Please take the time to think about where you get your pets and consider adoption, it's always the better answer. All animals are a blessing and deserve the same amount of love. Thank you for reading!
