Henderson Johnson, II for Mr. 1908
Donation protected
My name is Henderson Johnson, II and I am competing in the Mr. 1908 Pageant hosted by the Neverending Nu Beta Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. My platform is based on Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.'s A.S.C.E.N.D. program, which stands Achievement, Self-Awareness, Communication, Engagement, Networking and Developmental Skills. This program aims to prepare students cultivate both academic and life skills in students so that they are prepared for college, and or vocational employment.
My platform specifically targets students who have been , or are at high risk of being incarcerated. These students often have any future socioeconomic mobility crippled, because their education was interrupted and are unable to gain employment because of their record. This leads to these students eventually reentering "the system" and starting a vicious cycle.
My platform aims to Break the Cycle.
By leveraging my connections with the Urban League of Greater Atlanta and other local schools, Break the Cycle mentors will work one-on-one with students to help them overcome the challenges facing them, and give them the chance to finish their education, get a job and go on to lead successful lives.
Being human means we will make mistakes, but it doesn't mean that we should get stuck in a vicious cycle that limits from that mistake. By Breaking the Cycle, we uplift not only these individuals, but our community as well!
Any donation is appreciated! If you are interested in purchasing an ad, feel free to contact me via email!
The pageant is the evening of April 8, 2015 with more details to come. Thank you so much for your support!
