Help Save Lucky!!!

Donation protected
This morning, May 25, 2015, I was driving home from a weekend in Washington when I saw an abandoned dog on the side of I-84.  He was trying to crawl out of a cardboard box that he had been left in.  I pulled over and noticed that he was in pain and tried to call any local agencies.  Unfortunately, because of the holiday, all were closed.  Thankfully, a veterinary hospital, Dove Lewis, in Portland was open and able to help.  It turns that he is a one year black lab without any microchip or identification.  He is incredibly sweet and has already stolen my heart, as well as the hearts of the staff at Dove Lewis.

Preliminary x-rays showed that Lucky (as we've named him) has two fractured legs but is a good surgical candidate and should recover well given his age and temperment.  Surgical treatment will cost approximately $7,000.   I covered the cost of his temporary care, but need to find a way to finance his surgery to prevent euthanization.  I will be contacting any Portland animal agencies to help cover the cost and will provide regular updates.  However, we need to work fast to save this sweet boy and ensure that he gets the long life he deserves.  He has already been assessed at Dove Lewis and predicted to make an excellent recovery if we can find a way to finance surgery.  Thank you so much for any help you can provide.  Please share this message and page with anyone you know who may be in a position to help.
