Help Me Save My Degree?

My university was 3 months late in posting my bill for the upcoming Fall 2014 term and is now attempting to wrongfully charge me almost $3,000 more than they are supposed to for my Combined Bachelors in English and Masters in Professional Writing.
The entire point of this program is that you are meant to be able to take some graduate classes for undergraduate tuition, but now the Registrar’s Office is refusing to honor the stipulations of my program, the same ones which have been sworn to me for an entire year.
I was trying to save my mom (who raised me and my brother single-handedly) and I some $ by getting my degrees more quickly and now the university is screwing me big time. With my mom being in and out of the hospital for the last year and myself being in the hospital last night, it’s going to be somewhat difficult to come up with an extra $2,856 by August 8, 2014.
She is an incredibly hard-working and independent woman. I want to be able to help any way I can. This is the only way for me to do so. While I am still trying to see of they will at least consider dropping at least some, if not all, of the false charges, I have received very little response from my university on the matter.
My mom says that I should write my first real journalism piece on the corruption of higher education and right about now, this sounds like the perfect point at which to start. As I wrote this, I am sitting in her room on the hospital to which she has been readmitted for the second time in a month.
I do not expect or demand anything of anyone. I only ask that anyone who can contribute without detriment to themselves do so and that those who cannot would at least boost my page. I would greatly appreciate either effort.
