Hey Everybody!! I want you to meet Maggie, my 2 year old Black Lab/Golden Retriever mix. 
Maggie is my baby and a huge part of my life. She follows me everywhere I go and sleeps next to me every night. She is my biggest fan as you can tell from the picture!
Maggie was recently playing with some of her doggie friends and began to not bare any weight on her back leg. I took her to the vet where I got an x-ray and was told that she had torn her ACL. I was given two options: leave her untreated to where she might not be able to use her back leg again or to get surgery. With Maggie being upwards to 90 lbs the vet suggested a TPLO surgery.
TPLO Procedure-
(Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy)
This surgery generally results in faster recovery times compared to other procedures to stabilize the knee. Most dogs (over 90%) are expected to regain a very active and athletic lifestyle with no post-operative complications and without the need for any long-term pain relieving medication.
Surgery Cost?
TPLO surgery can run anywhere from $2,500 to $5,000.
I will be cashing in my only savings bonds to help pay for the surgery but it will not cover the entire cost. The vet has stressed that this surgery needs to be done as soon as possible because Maggie is already beginning to develop bone decay and arthritis.
I want to be able to provide Maggie with the best care to ensure she lives a long and healthy life. If you could help in any way I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you so much for helping me get Maggie back on all four legs!!
