The Oregon Crusaders 2014

As most of you know, I have received a contract for the 2015 Oregon Crusaders! This is really the opportunity of a lifetime. I will get to spend my summer performing with 149 other members. Music is truly my passion, and I am lucky enough to be able to spend the whole summer doing what I love.

My love for music ultimately started in 5th grade when I started playing the clarinet in band. I continued playing clarinet in band until halfway into my 7th grade year when I saw a bass clarinet and "just had to play that". I played bass clarinet for the rest of 7th grade. Towards the end of 7th grade, my friend Sean convinced me to think about joining marching band. After the first couple practices I was hooked. When I came back to concert band in August, marching band had motivated me to learn a new, brass instrument. At the time, my middle school band   didn't have a tuba so I was put on tuba. All throughout 8th grade I played tuba. When marching band came back around, as much as I wanted to play tuba in marching band, all our spots were filled so I got put on baritone, and I could not have been more lucky. I proceeded into my Freshman year of high school playing baritone in marching band, and bass clarinet in concert band. Both while learning cello in orchestra and tenor sax in jazz band.

Back track to my summer in between middle school and high school. I went with my high school, who always takes a group to Drums Along The Rockies, the only drum corps show in colorado. Not knowing what  DCI was,  I was completely hooked by the level of performance.

I had thought about marching a drum corps, maybe when I was out of high school and in college, but I never knew how much I wanted to until best friend convinced me to go to a local Blue Knights camp with her.

(Funny story: I actually auditioned on accident because I wanted to go for the experience , but ended up paying for an audition on without knowing)

Well anyway in between November and now, with 3 weekend camps, a trip to Oregon and a lot of practice, I have achieved something amazing for a freshman in highschool.

The $3,500 is what it costs to march this summer. This is called 'tour fees' and include food, housing, travel, instruction, instruments, uniforms, and anything else that I might need to survive over the summer.

So basicly, it would suck to miss a chance like this because of money. So I am asking you to help me with whatever you have, may that be $1 or $100. I just can't express how much this means to me and even if you can't donate, please share this with your friends and family.

Thank you guys so much for all the support and believing in me all the way.
