In a time of such need everywhere, I agonized about whether to put a GoFundMe page or not.
My child's story is below, but I'll cut to the chase.
My wife has health issues that prohibit her from working, and I am the sole earner as a HS Counselor. The costs associated with an elite level youth athlete are better suited for folks with greater means than I.
But, when it's your child you do anything possible to help them realize their dreams. My child's dream is to represent the USA in the 2024 Olympic Games as a Javelin thrower.
I humbly ask for any assistance you (or a friend) may offer to her in her quest. Thanks & blessings,

Alyssa Perrini is a 13 year old, soon to be 8th grader in suburban Tucson, AZ,USA. She's an up and coming track & field athlete, competing in Discus, Javelin and Shot Put through USATF, the US Track & Field Federation.
In 2012, after just two months on a local track team,
she won AZ State, AZ Jr. Olympic and Region 10 Jr. Olympic (AZ, CO, NM & West TX) championships in the Girls 9/10 Mini-Javelin. She also placed 2nd at AZ State, AZ Jr. Olympic and Region 10 Jr. Olympic championships in Girls 9/10 Shot Put, earning the right to compete in both events at USATF Jr. Olympic Nationals in Baltimore, MD. The experience was transformative for her, creating keen interest in competitive sport.
In 2013, she decided to take a break from track, and became the first 11 year old girl to make Majors in her local Little League - but that's another story...
In 2014, Alyssa won AZ State and Region 10 Girls 11/12 Championships in both Mini-Javelin and Shot Put. She also placed 2nd at State & 4th at Region 10 in Discus, which allowed her to compete in all three events at the 2014 USATF Jr. Olympic Nationals in Houston, TX. Armed with a frame of reference from 2012, Alyssa wasn't satisfied just to be there - she was there to compete with the best! In Discus, an event she barely started two months earlier, she placed 12th out of 50. In Shot Put, she placed where track athletes NEVER want to place - 9th (top 8 are All-American) out of 50. In her best - and favorite -event, Mini-Javelin, Alyssa dominated the field, uncorking a winning throw of over 122 feet (37.25M) to win Gold at Nationals!

The 2015 track & field season provided a new challenge for Alyssa. As a 13 year old, she would now compete in the 13/14 age group & graduate from Mini-Javelin to regulation size, which is 600 grams, and over 7 ft. long!
She began USATF competition in late May, winning the AZ Association State Championships in Shot Put and Javelin. She also came in 5th in Discus. At the USATF AZ Jr. Olympic Championships two weeks later, Alyssa placed 1st in Javelin with a throw of 31.82M which is currently the 3rd longest throw in the USA for her age group!
She also placed 2nd in Shot Put and 4th in Discus. She has qualified for all three events at USATF Region 10 Championships at the University of Texas, El Paso July 11-12. The top five in each event qualify for 2015 USATF Jr. Olympic Nationals at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, FL July 28th-August 2nd. She has a very good chance at qualifying for all three, even though she's at the bottom of her age group. She has a legitimate shot at All-American in Javelin.
The gas, hotels, airfare, rental cars, meals, event fees accumulate quickly over the short competition season. Any assistance you'd be willing to provide to offset these expenses for Region 10 and Nationals are greatly appreciated.
