My name is Rebecca Hamilton and this is MY story. My husband, Jerry Hamilton , is the man featured in this news clip... We have been married 11 years and have 3 children. Originally Texans, but now reside in Clarksville, TN.
Jerry joined the Military in 2002 soon after the tragic events of 9/11, and went on to deploy to Iraq multiple times. He was exposed to many chemicals, burn pits, radioactive materials and constant explosions. Jerry finished his contract with the military in 2009 and went on to continue to serve his country as an employee with Department Of Defense. He deployed to Afghanistan with DOD where he was exposed to much of the same conditions as Iraq.
My husband has begged for help from the Veterans Administration system, only to be denied the care and treatment he deserves! He wants to be tested for TBI (TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY) and the VA will NOT test him! They say he has conversion disorder!!! This is a generic diagnosis VA Doctors give to the majority of our returning military and other deployed Americans that have served our country and sacrificed their own lives and families to protect us and our freedoms!!!
My husband's medical insurance was recently canceled, making it near impossible to afford all his prescription medication. He now has a secondary diagnoses of dystonia from what I believe originated from untreated TBI. As well as facial grimacing, and constant uncontrollable movements of the body, arms, and legs. Which results in 24/7 pain, and exhaustion, with no relief in sight.
We're asking for help because my husband is running out of time and we need help getting this story out before it's too late...
The money raised here will go towards Jerry's Medical Expenses, Prescription Medication, and any future legal matters. An exact amount of $7500 is needed ASAP for expert witnesses in a civil right lawsuit for my husband.
Note: My husband spent exactly one month in the Clarksville Montgomery County Jail before making bond in December 2011.
