Meet Healing Hearts—a local animal rescue group dedicated to homeless, abandoned, special needs and senior companion animals from high kill shelters. The organization started with a group of volunteers who not only love animals, but after seeing the overwhelming amount of dogs and cats in county shelters, wanted to do what they could to help get them out of the shelters and into forever homes.
Since most of the dogs are seniors and special needs, they do not have a high percentage of adoptions. This means that most of their dogs live for months and sometimes years in one of their foster homes. With few adoptions per year, we rely mostly on donations to help fund the needs of the dogs in our care.
100% of the funds donated will go to cover the costs of the animals at Healing Hearts to help pay for food, medical care, preventative care, grooming needs and other expenses that may arise as a result of keeping the dogs safe and well cared for while waiting for their forever homes.
"We adopted our dog, Gracie two years ago from Healing Hearts and can't imagine our life without her. We originally inquired about adopting another dog but he was not a good match for our lifestyle and existing dog, so Healing Hearts matched us with Gracie and we all fell in love immediately. When we realized we couldn't get enough doggie love and admired Healing Hearts' efforts, we offered to foster to help out since the organization relies heavily on foster families and donations. Our family has since fostered about ten dogs who have been re-homed into their forever homes.” - Eric & Lauren Duvall
"Lamby has gone from being a puppy mill dog who lived outside 24/7 to a therapy dog who goes to a nursing home twice a week. He is so popular with the residents that they wait in the lobby anticipating his arrival.
