Thanks again for all of the support. The season is underway and the student-athletes are loving the new uniforms and equipment. We have team pictures ready to be sent to all donors who chipped in at least $25. Please reply to this email with your name and mailing address if you would like us to send you one.
Be sure to follow our twitter account (@HardingRunning) or visit our website for updates all season long.
Thanks for supporting our athletes. We're proud to announce that Christian has won the New Balance Fresh Foam Sprint contest and will receive a free brand new pair of shoes this Thursday!
....And by the way - we also received our 20 new hurdles and a complete high jump pit package today. Quite a day for Harding Cross Country and Track & Field! Our fans, donors, supporters, and community are amazing. We can't wait to unpack both the equipment and our success.
Attached is a photo of all the gear at the time of delivery. We will post more photos as we unwrap it all. ...Not a bad day for Harding XC/Track!
Please take 30 seconds and vote for two Harding Track & Field student-athletes in the New Balance Fresh Foam Sprint contest. The winner receives a brand-new pair of shoes. This could make a huge difference and provide some excellent press for Harding. Thanks so much, please vote, and share with your friends!
The jerseys are in! A few members of our boys team stuck around after practice this afternoon to show them off! Head over to our twitter or our website to see a few pictures! Once again, receipts are posted their as well.
Thanks for the support and be on the lookout for more updates on equipment and more pictures to come of our student-athletes in their brand new uniforms!
It's official! Uniforms and equipment have been purchased! 40 boys uniforms, 40 girls uniforms, 15 championship uniforms, 20 customized hurdles (with 2 hurdle carts), and a high jump pit package are all on their way to Harding!
If you're interested in viewing receipts and images of the equipment, head over to our website. So far, we have received the shorts for the boys and girls uniforms. They're made by Brooks and our athletes approve (see photo)! We can't wait to receive the jerseys.
Once again, on behalf of the team at Harding, I cannot thank you all enough for your support. Our student-athletes deserve nothing less than the best.
We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Our cross country season has ended and our athletes are now training for Track & Field. Both our boys and girls teams were the fastest Bridgeport teams at the FCIAC Cross Country Championship meet. Additionally, both the boys and girls teams returned to the CIAC state class championship meets for the first time in recent memory (we are still trying to determine this date - contact us if you have any insight!) The future of the program looks bright, and a huge reason for that is our wonderful community of fans, family, and donors. On that note, we have two quick updates. First, we have made our first purchase. Second, uniforms will be purchased for both the boys and girls teams within days. Keep reading to hear a little bit more about both of these updates!
1.) Cyber Monday rolled around with some great offers from our equipment supplier, MF Athletics. As a result, I was able to acquire the following equipment: 30 Resistance Mini Bands, 4 PB Elite Foam Rollers, 1 Track/XC Spike Kit (contains about 1,000 replacement spikes), 20 Banana Hurdles (used for speed development), 6 Resistance Tubes, 12 Field Cones, and 2 Speed and Agility Ladders. Additionally, MF contributed $100 of gift cards for future purchases. These training supplies will start arriving Friday and will be used immediately at practice for Track & Field athletes, as well as various other athletes participating in our newly-launched winter Strength & Conditioning Club.
2.) Paperwork for uniforms is currently changing hands. We will be ordering 40 new uniforms for boys and 40 new uniforms for girls. These uniforms will be state-of-the-art quality from Brooks Running. Our vision from Day 1 has always been to aggressively pursue the best quality product for our student-athletes, and these uniforms will certainly fit that bill!
I want to end by thanking all of our donors for making this possible. As promised, I will keep you updated every step of the way. Receipts, photos, and other awesome information will be posted on our website. Check us out at http://hardingrunning.wordpress.com/
I want to update everyone on what's going on behind the scenes with the fundraising effort. I've established a business banking account at People's Bank where the money from this donation will be transferred for the purposes of bookkeeping and so that purchases can be made. It will then be spent on uniforms and equipment. Before any of that happens, you all will be the first to know. Additionally, once anything is purchased, the receipts will be posted as well.
Right now, the athletic directors and I are negotiating with vendors for the purchase of state-of-the art uniforms, a high-jump pit, and between 20-30 hurdles (with mobile carts) to provide equipment desperately needed for our athletes. This will all arrive in time for the spring track season in March. Combined, this is about a $12,000 purchase, which will use up virtually all of our funds collected thus far. I'm planning on contacting corporations to bring in new money for things such as future shoe budgets (IE for track season), tshirts, team warmup gear, and various other needs such as Indoor Track fees.
A more immediate need that we are also working on is Indoor Track, which was a budget cut last year. To read more about this, please visit the link below. I am working with athletic directors and FCIAC coaches about how to possibly bring back the sport we love. I know my cross country and track athletes are very disappointed about not having an indoor track season, but am confident that they will train on regardless of the outcome.
Thank you for supporting our athletes! Our goal is to provide the best possible program for our athletes to ensure that they are academically and athletically prepared to compete at the college level. This project has reached far beyond anything we expected. In our quest to obtain the best uniforms in the FCIAC, it is humbling to know that not only will this dream become a reality come Track season, but a few of our other needs will be met as well!
However, we feel that our work is far from done. Our attention is now shifting to acquiring ALL of the equipment that our peers in the FCIAC have to ensure that Harding Cross Country and Track & Field athletes have nothing less than the best available on a daily basis. This is a huge task, but you all have already proved to us that ANYTHING is possible. Please pass along our vision and this page to all of your friends. We won't stand for anything less than the best for our student-athletes!
Our program is beginning full evaluations on the purchase of new equipment - specifically - hurdles, high jump mats, footwear, and team warmups. We promise to be fully transparent during this process with full documentation of all purchases.
We thank you for your interest and continued support! Please feel free to contact me via the gofundme page or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Be sure to check out our website as well at www.hardingrunning.wix.com/whhs
And don't forget to follow us on Twitter for updates and images of our teams progress!
I am deeply humbled by the donations that are rolling in. I am pleased to announce that I have met my first fundraising goal of $2500 for about 30 brand new, state of the art Nike uniforms for the boys team. However, stark realities remain for the future of running at Harding. We have many other needs including the following:
- More uniforms (Many of the best teams in the FCIAC have rosters that approach 100 athletes)
- Hurdles (We do not have any Hurdles despite having a State Qualifying Hurdler who is a rising Junior!)
- High Jump Equipment
- Team Warmups (Jackets and Pants that nearly all FCIAC teams have)
- Training Shoes and Racing Spikes
I'm not sure how I can possibly ask more of my friends and community, but above are needs that are part of my vision for the future of the program. Please continue to support our athletes.
Hi everyone. I will be coaching Boys Cross Country and Track and Field at Harding High School in Bridgeport, CT this year. I need your help. Harding High School runners do not have uniforms.
I am raising money to purchase uniforms and with your help, some team gear for our athletes. While coaching last year, the majority of my athletes raced in basketball clothing, including sneakers, long shorts, and t-shirts. Other teams in the conference sport matching, state of the art singlets and shorts, as well as warmup jackets and pants. However, this reality doesn't need to remain so. With a small donation as little as $5, a large group of people can come together to make a huge difference. Our athletes will be able to compete in their races and meets with uniforms equal to those of their peers. These uniforms can be shared between the cross country and track & field programs.
I coach middle school running in Derby, we feel your pain with lack of funding. Just got our high school cross country programs back this year. Keep up the good work. My grandfather went to HHS in the 1920's!
