HMS TSA Trip to Nationals
We need your support to help fund the Hickory Middle School Technology Student Association* (TSA) Chapter’s team trip to Dallas, Texas so they can represent their school, Chesapeake, the Tidewater Region, Hampton Roads, and Virginia while participating and competing in the 2015 National TSA Conference from June 28 to July 2, 2015.
The Hickory Middle School (HMS) TSA Chapter is a voluntary student activity that receives very limited school funding. The HMS TSA Chapter relies primarily on student fund raising, allowances, and parent donations to cover the costs of tools, equipment, supplies, competition entry fees, required TSA competition attire , and all travel, food, and lodging expenses. The students exhausted this year’s funds while attending:
-2015 Tidewater TSA Fall Rally
-2015 Virginia TSA Leadership Academy
-2015 Tidewater TSA Regional Competition
-2015 Virginia TSA Technosphere Leadership Conference/Competition.
The HMS TSA Chapter's hard work this year resulted in unexpected success during the 2015 Virginia TSA Technosphere Competition (official results and photos ):
-Finished in the Top 10 in 21 out of 25 events including:
-(1) 1st Place finish
-(2) 2nd Place finishes
-(1) 3rd Place finish
-Placed 10th overall for middle school chapters
-One student finished 10th overall for middle school competitors
-Qualified for the 2015 National TSA Conference

Based on their tremendous efforts this year, I’m attempting a short-fuse fund raising effort to cover the large cost so they can attend Nationals. The students are participating in fund raising activities:
-Hickory Middle School Spring Carnival concessions sales fundraiser on May 8, 2015.
-Chesapeake Soccer Club Tournament concessions sales fundraiser on May 15-17, 2015.
-Hickory Middles School Dance fundraiser on May 29, 2015 from 3:45 - 5:30. Join us for music, food, and fun!
-Buffalo Wild Wings Spirit Night fundraiser on May 30, 2015 all day from 11am - 12am. Join us for face painting, music, games, food, prizes and fun!
-Chick-fil-A Spirit Night fundraiser (clearing tables, wiping tables, taking out trash in exchange for a percentage of sales) on June 1, 2015 from 6-8pm.
-Chipolte Spirit Night fundraiser on June 7, 2015 from 4-9pm.
-Chick-fil-A Spirit Night fundraiser (clearing tables, wiping tables, taking out trash in exchange for a percentage of sales) on June 18, 2015 from 6-8pm.
But they have far too many competing priorities this time of year (e.g., SOL testing, finals, and preparing for their events at Nationals) to have time to raise it all on their own. We need your donations to reach our goal!
Please submit your donations via our fundraising campaign to allow them the much-deserved opportunity to compete at the 2015 National TSA Conference .
Every dollar helps, so please give what you can. Here are some examples of how your donation will make a difference:
$1= 1 Snickers bar for the 20hr drive to Texas!
$5= 1 day of snacks for 1 student
$10= 1 lunch for 1 student
$20= 1 dinner for 1 student
$50= Required TSA competition attire for 1 student
$100= Registration fee for 1 student
$250= Hotel room for 1 student
$500= Transportation for 1 student
$1000= 1 Hotel room for entire event
Don't worry if you don't have cash, you can still help by:
-Providing fund raising opportunities for our students
-Donating items for resale as fund raisers such as gift certificates, packaged food, beverages, etc.
-Donating badly needed supplies and equipment such as Lego Mindstorms EV3 kits, VEX IQ starter kits, building materials, etc.
