HELP CHANGE A LIFE TODAY!
Charlene is an artist. She makes her living selling her artwork on her Etsy.com shop. I have been a fan of her artwork for several years now and before leaving Nebraska, I had the honor of getting to know this amazing woman. And I must say, I have never met a more selfless person. Or a more beautiful soul.
When her husband died after a year long battle with cancer, Char lost it all. Everything. Not just the love of her life for 35 years, but the house, the savings...even the car!
She is 62 now. And for FIVE YEARS, she has gone without a car. In Lincoln, Nebraska!! She walks or takes the bus everywhere she needs to go. The store, the doctor, the post office... And she is out there in all kinds of bad weather...rain, sleet, snow, ice, 100 degree summer days. My heart breaks to think that she will have to bear another winter without wheels.
I don't have the money to buy her a car. I don't have a million friends on Facebook or Twitter. Unfortunately, I don't know how to help her other than to leave it up to the kindness of strangers. I know that there are a ton of stories like Char's. I know that some people have bigger problems and more troubles than she, but this woman is a truly good person and she deserves a break more than anyone I know.
She isn't sitting around feeling sorry for herself. She isn't wasting away in front of a television. She is still chasing the dream of being a successful artist. She is building a following and really doing beautiful work. She is TRYING to make the best of her situation. She would never ask for help. So, I am asking for help FOR HER! I hope this can be a big surprise for her! And I hope you will help me make it happen!!
The plan is to raise $5000 to get a decent used car to keep her from walking through snow and ice all winter. I know the Universe holds the power to make this happen. But it will mean I need help spreading the word.
