Glenn's Ironman: Code of Support

Tax deductible
12 hours and 56 minutes…..not only did I reach my personal goal of finishing the IRONMAN Maryland in under 14 hours but together we surpassed my original fundraising goal of $20,000 for the Code of Support Foundation including over $4,000 in offline donations.

Early on September 20, as I stared out across the Choptank River in Cambridge, MD, I reflected on the fact that it would be a very special day for me surrounded by the support of so many friends and family who encouraged me personally and contributed to my charity, the Code of Support.  I am honored to let you know that I finished 56th in my age group (the old man category), top third overall in an overall time of 12 hours and 56 minutes!

This challenge has only driven me to want to continue to support COSF and to grow as a triathlete.

Your funding will enable COSF to continue to help troops, veterans & families whose lives have been forever changed by war.  COSF's dedicated team of case coordinators provide one-on-one assistance, and stand by our veterans for as long as it takes to get them the support they need.  Because sometimes, war comes home.

Thank you,  It was an amazing day!

Its time for my mid-life crisis!  So what do I do, I sign up to participate in a full length Ironman,140.6 miles. Despite the need to check the box before I turn 50 in October, I am actually competing to raise money for one of my favorite charities, the Code of Support Foundation.

And just to make it more interesting, a couple anonymous donors have stepped up to match every donation made between Aug 20th and Sept 20th (Race Day!) dollar for dollar up to $6,500!

What a great gift!

So every dollar counts no matter how large or small!

The Code of Support Foundation works to engage and leverage the full spectrum of this nation's resources to ensure our service members, veterans and their families receive the support they need and have earned through their service and sacrifice.

Their programs include:
Case Coordination Program
Warrior, Veteran & Family Support Network (WVFSN)
Awareness & Engagement Program

In a recent message, COSF Founder and CEO, Major General (RET) Alan B. Salisbury, said "Service-members all over the country are returning home from the battlefield to the joyous embrace of their loved ones. This latest "greatest generation" of Americans has borne the burden of war for over 13 years. Hundreds of thousands of veterans are living with the "invisible wounds" of war - post traumatic stress and traumatic brain injury. Yet few of these men and women or their families have ever complained, rather they continue to quietly shoulder incredible hardship."

Thank you for supporting such a great charity and wish me luck at IRONMAN Maryland on September 20 in Cambridge MD as I swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 miles and run a full marathon!

Glenn

"If we didn't get Code of Support to help us connect the dots, we would have faced eviction last Christmas... They worked around the clock to make sure we got the assistance we needed, and got us back on track."
