The Revolution of FRESH Re-Launch

peace all!

I'm an artist, a musician, an MC. In 2009, I decided to undertake a labor of love. As a Hip Hop lover and artist, I'd watched Hip Hop change into a machine that I felt was marginalizing and exploiting women. As an MC, I'd personally felt that exploitation and marginalization, and I took it personally. So I started "She's So Fresh", a little blog where I could answer the question everyone seemed to be asking me: where are all the women in Hip Hop? I knew plenty, a lot of them were my friends and we hadn't gone anywhere! So I started featuring them, their music, and their events every Friday on my blog via "She's So Fresh" Fridays and it was FRESH. That little blog blossomed into the "She's So Fresh" Showcases I, II, III, an all female MC only performance series, and "She's So Fresh" Showcase IV: The Freshest on Film, a film showcase series for women visually documenting Hip Hop. The most recent SSF event, "She's So Fresh" Showcase V: The Freshest on Film, took place on June 7, 2013 at Norwood Club in NYC and SSF VI: The Freshest on Film is already being planned for September, in addition to more superFRESH SSF events that we have lined up for the second half of the year!

(You can check out some of the past SSF features HERE, but as you'll see it's a little difficult to see them all which is one of the reasons for the redesign and expansion).

But then I realized that I knew so many artists, amazing and incredible artists that needed to be supported as well! And independent entrepreneurs doing events that supported art..and authors and poets writing and releasing books..film makers, photographers, painters, dancers, singers, designers. Not to mention other aspects of culture that are always necessary: Health & Wellness, Lifestyle, Fashion and support for organizations and projects that can help us all begin to get more involved in our communities locally and globally, and much more! And so my little blog, "She's So Fresh", evolved into TheRevolutionofFRESH.com.

The past 4 years have been a pleasure and privilege. Using the blog/website as a tool to support my fellow artists in the urban and Hip Hop community (women in particular via the "She's So Fresh" brand), as well as being a metaphorical megaphone and letting people know about amazing, dope events and goings on, has been an incredible experience of service and reciprocity. One that has shown me the intangible value and deep necessity in supporting art and community, beyond the sphere of being the artist. And it has led me to the decision to expand this (ad)venture, TheRevolutionofFRESH.com, into a grander experiment in showing love for and uplifting our culture.

"The earth without "art" is just eh." ~ Unknown.

And this is where you come in! I am asking for your support in helping me to not only continue this labor of love but to be apart of its growth in supporting even more aspects of Urban culture, community, and the arts by donating what you can, every little bit helps: $5, $10, $20, RETWEET AND REPOST and use the #tROF hashtag! I believe in being the change you wish to see, giving energy to what you love and not bashing what you don't. That has always been the driving force behind my music, "She's So Fresh" and now, TheRevolutionofFRESH.com.

So, want to be apart of creating something magical, real, honest and innovative? Let's go!
