New Children's Bookmobile for Florence County, SC

UPDATE: We have reached our funding goal thanks to all our donors, including one large donation of $70,000 from a local anonymous donor! Any additional donations received will be used for the following:
- custom artwork for Bookmobile exterior
- new children's library cards featuring the Bookmobile art
- vacuum and cleaning supplies
- tables, chairs, display stands and tablecloths for outdoor events
- laptops and tablets for checking out materials
- bubble blower machine
The Florence County Library System (FCLS) is asking for donations from the community to go towards the purchase of a new bookmobile. The Florence County Library System uses the Children’s Bookmobile to provide library services exclusively to daycares, preschools, and private schools, afterschool programs, and other organizations with children onsite.
Our current bookmobile has been in service for 22 years, and now our services are limited by mechanical failures and other vehicle issues. A new Children's Bookmobile will help us serve the whole community while keeping bookmobile staff safe. We can increase the number of books and other library materials provided to children who otherwise can't make it to the library. And very importantly, our new Children's Bookmobile will come with a wheelchair lift, making it truly accessible to all.
The new FCLS Children’s Bookmobile will have other features and technology as well, and feature an art design created by renowned children's author and illustrator, Will Hillenbrand.
The total cost of our new Children's Bookmobile is $244,758.00. Fortunately, we have already received $175,000 in grants! This leaves us only $70,000 away from our goal. Will you help us make the difference?
