Festival Brikcius in Prague

  Support "Festival Brikcius 2013" - the 2nd chamber music concert series at the Stone Bell House in Prague (Spring & Autumn). Festival commemorates 170th anniversary of the birth of the Czech cellist and composer David Popper, 150th anniversary of the birth of the German composer Max Reger and 100th anniversary of the birth of the British composer Benjamin Britten.

  "Festival Brikcius" will feature Czech cellist Frantisek Brikcius, Czech pianist Tomas Visek, chamber choir Brikcius Ensemble (Spain) and siblings cello chamber ensemble Duo Brikcius. Unique festival dramaturgy is focused on music by composers of the 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th and 21st centuries. Specially on compositions by Czech, "Terezin", Jewish and contemporary composers. Unknown composition of known composers, premieres of new and not yet performed music.

  "Festival Brikcius 2013" is held in the cooperation with the City Gallery Prague in exclusive location of the Stone Bell House, Old town square in Prague. Festival is divided into two parts (Spring & Autumn) containing three concerts, held every 3rd Thursday of given month at 7.30pm. (18 April, 16 May, 20 June & 17 October, 21 November, 19 December 2013). Every first concert is for solo cello, every second is for cello chamber music (with piano, with quartet, with chamber choir, …) and every third is for two cellos.

  "Festival Brikcius" is held, similarly as previous projects (e.g. "eSACHERe", "MAKANNA", "Duo Brikcius - 2 Cellos Tour", "7 Candles", "Weinberger Tour", "Festival Brikcius 2012", ...), as part of the Daniel Pearl World Music Days, commemorate the legacy of Jewish journalist and musician Daniel Pearl, who was brutally murdered by group of terrorist, defending the freedom of the speech.

  One of the main aims of this project is to get friendly with musical evolution of the cello repertoire, support of contemporary composers, commemoration of "Terezin" authors, providing of music platform for endangered minority of classical music listeners, expansion of periodical listeners and fans from previous projects, above all introduce this kind of music to younger generation.

  All raised financial support will be used to cover necessary expanses.
