This boy has come a long way!
In 2009 at the age of 9, Fernando began training at the Golden State Bloodhounds gym in Sacramento. Trained by his Uncle Ray Venegas, Fernando has been very dedicated to the Boxing sport. He trains enthusiastically every day, Monday through Friday. Going to school, homework and training in boxing has been his daily routine for the past 3 years.
Currently, Fern continues to hold the #1 Title for California in his weight class. His current record is 19 wins with only 5 losses.
In 2010, he won the "Championship Belt" for the Junior Golden Gloves in Mesquite, Nevada. More recently Fern won bouts for the Region 8 State Finals (Dec 1-2) in Los Angeles and the Regionals (Jan 4-6) in Pasadena, competing against other State Champions from New Mexico, Nevada, Hawaii, Colorado and Arizona.
Fern's win in Pasadena has qualified him to compete in the 2013 National Silver Gloves held in Independence, Missouri. The tournament is a three-day event from January 30th "“ February 2nd. He will be competing against amateur boxers in his weight class from all over the country to earn National Championship titles and belts.
This will be Fern's first year competing at the Silver Gloves Tournament. As you know with most tournaments this will be a self-supporting expense. Along with your support for Fernando wins, we are also seeking to raise enough money to help supplement his expenses; hotel, food and transportation. With the tournament being just around the corner this request is coming to you with short notice, but any help you can give would be greatly appreciated!
