#InHonorOfEmily (Emily's Fight)

Emily was diagnosed with Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma (A rare and aggressive tissue cancer) on 3-3-15.  When she was only 14 years old. After a year of long hospital stays, unmanageable sickening chemo every week, 6 weeks(28 total) radiation treatments she was told she was in remission on 1-15-16! She did her best to "get back to a normal life" she took on the huge task of going back to school even though she was still so exhausted all the time, would fall due to the neuropathy caused by chemo.  She wanted her life back! On 1-15 17 we celebrated one year of remission. Three days later on 1-18-17 we had scans.... we were told it was back! We are heart broken! We know that many children do not survive recurrence. Since January she has had 3 surgerys trying to get clean margins so we can have a fighting chance! If her cancer was in a limb they would have amputated it. Her cancer is in and around her nose. We had no choice but to remove the majority of her nose, skin and bone around it! She has to keep "trumpets" in her nose just to keep her nose from falling flat on her face. The middle divider part, her whole right nostril and most of the cartilage had to be removed.
They took skin and tissue (flap) from her arm to replace what was removed from her face. Now she has to do physical therapy for her arm as when they went down to the muscle something must have gone wrong because now she can't feel her hand nor move her arm.
They took skin from her thigh to replace the skin from her arm!  There is not a single body part that they have not scarred up! She has had a total of 7 surgerys and will still need quite a few more to rebuild her nose. She is not yet healed enough from the most recent surgery to even start chemo yet but will start a 3 cocktail chemo as soon as she is cleared. She is a beautiful, sweet 16yr old girl who should be learning to drive not fighting for her life or have to suffer the way that she has. This going into our third year of fighting and we live over an hour away from her doctors we can use any and all help. Thank you for any help and prayers! God Bless
