Summer Reading Program-CDF Freedom School®
I am reaching out to you in hopes that you would consider sponsoring our summer reading program. Education Explosion, Inc. will operate a Children's Defense Fund Freedom School® in the summer of 2012. From June 18th-July 27th, five trained Servant Leader Interns will serve at least 50 children in need. Through this program children will increase in areas including vocabulary, reading, comprehension, healthy living, social and citizenship skills.
Education Explosion, Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) educational organization based in Baton Rouge, LA. Our mission is to provide academic enrichment, leadership and social skills development through teaching and mentoring. We strive to motivate children to reach for greater achievement and improve academically. Our strategic plan encompasses using qualified teachers, research"based curricula and instructional methods that facilitate personal growth and academic excellence.
The CDF Freedom Schools program provides summer enrichment that helps children fall in love with reading, increases their self-esteem, and generates more positive attitudes toward learning. Children are taught using a model curriculum that supports children and families around five essential components: high quality academic enrichment; parent and family involvement; civic engagement and social action; intergenerational leadership development; and nutrition, health and mental health.
