Dina's Deeds: Thanksgiving Dinners

Donation protected
Hello!
My name is Tommy Meyer. My wife, Penina, and I want to start a charity organization called Dina's Deeds. Dina was the name of my wife's Grandmother who passed away nearly a year ago at the age of 90. Our first born daughter is named after her.

Dina was a Holocaust and breast cancer survivor. She was the epitome of strength for my wife's family. My wife always looked up to her for her selfless character and go get it attitude, which are characteristics that she inherited in vast quantities.

Because of this beneficent nature, we would like to start a charity in her name which will encompass many areas of life for many people. From paying for a hotel room for a recently homeless family, paying someone's medical bills, rent, or groceries for a month to help them catch up, assisting towns when disaster strikes (tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, etc.), or hosting holiday meals for low-income school children. These are the Deeds that people all across the country are already doing on a small scale. We would like to increase the footprint of these Deeds and subsequently the light that is spread by each act of kindness.

Our first project, the topic of this particular campaign, is to provide a Thanksgiving meal for around 100 low-income students in Phoenix, Arizona. Penina and I work at a South Phoenix charter school that houses namely low-income and credit deficient students. The school is meant to help them catch up and, in some cases, is their last chance to graduate. Because of many of their circumstances, a real Thanksgiving dinner is not at the top of their list of concerns so we would like to show them what it is like to experience a real Thanksgiving and feed them when they may otherwise not be getting fed.

We are asking for $2,000. This should cover the costs of the food and utensils and hopefully leave some left over for us to plan and prepare our next Deeds. If you would consider donating even $5 or $10, it would make a world of difference for these kids.

I hope this finds you in the best of health. Thank you for reading. Have a Happy and thankful Thanksgiving. God Bless.
