The mission of Deaf Outreach, Inc. is threefold:
To provide residents of central Delaware who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing with a comprehensive access point to resources and services that foster Education, Access, and Self Advocacy.
Deaf Outreach, Inc. was formed by a group of concerned professionals, interpreters, friends and family, and residents of central Delaware who are Deaf or hard of hearing. In response to multiple discussions regarding the lack of availability to comprehensive services in central Delaware, this group gathered to create a service organization that can help simplify and assist in acquiring access to services.
We have also found that some services and resources that are available may not be accessed and used to full effect.
Deaf Outreach (DO) is working toward providing case management type services to assist in accessing any and all services, as appropriate to the individual.
Long range goals include a variety of Culturally Appropriate Alternative Living Units for clients who are Deaf or Deaf/Blind; establishment of a Mid-Atlantic regional Deaf Expo serving MD, VA, WV, PA, NJ, DC, and DE; and a technology-based resources call center available round the clock.
Exciting things will be happening as DO grows and develops programs.
