We are the Dana Droids (21835A), a 6th grade Robotics team from two Califonia Middle Schools:
• Niguel Hills of Laguna Niguel, CA.
• Marco Forster of San Juan Capistrano, CA
We are so stoked for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). We keep hearing about how todays kids are preparing for tomorrow's jobs that don't exist yet but we are just excited to learn, more!
Together with the support of some amazing coaches, we are on an incredible journey that has exceeded our imaginations and makes hard work feel easy.
We just WON the State Championship again on March 12th and that means we are now going to the 2017 VEX Robotics World Championship in Louisville, Kentucky to represent the best of California, U.S.A Middle Schools against 40 other countries!
This program is the largest robotics program in the world and involves both research projects and programmable robotics. To be honest, most of us joined up because of the robotics, however the research projects have been amazing and it’s a toss-up as to where we are learning more. Trust us, it’s serious!
It’s been an exciting year and we have had our share of ups and downs, however our we continuously learn the power of refining and evolving our projects and robot designs.
Here is where we are at:
• 1st place Regional Tournament (2/10)
• 1st place CA State 2017 Championship (3/12)
• TBD World Championship (4/22)
We‘re overjoyed with our overall success so far, however we are nervous about our upcoming final competition. We keep getting reminded that: “they are the best in the world!” Yea, we know...No Pressure!
We welcome your support
Competing in a worldwide competition is very exciting but will require extensive resources to get our team there. Your support will help cover costs such as:
• Robot transportation
• $850 entrance fee
• Team airfare (about 10 seats)
• Team lodging (5 rooms x 4 days)
• #payitforward to next years effort
