Round 2 so far a success

Daisy is our three and a half year old Labrador. We were given the opportunity of adopting Daisy back in June of last year after an old friend realized it was too much with her new baby and her other dog. We flew Daisy from Ontario home to Vancouver Island to join our family. She is a blessing too us. Over some time we noticed Daisy sitting differently from other dogs. She would place all of her weight on one side, we thought she was just being a princess. However after taking her in for a routine vet visit and some x-rays we discovered that daisy has 80% Hip Dysplasia on her left hip. Basically what this means is that within a short period of time Daisy will lose mobility in her hip and leg. Our vet thinks that she was severely abused in her past (not from the previous owner who gave Daisy to us) due to the nature of the dysplasia and her very young age, possibly kicked repeatedly. A very sad realization for the most loveable and friendly dog I have ever known. There are 2 options for Daisy for fixing this, Option 1 is to amputate the leg, which of course for us is not an option at such a young age. Option 2 is to have a full hip replacement to fix her hip to give her full mobility for the rest of her life. A very common procedure but a very expensive one to say the least. A procedure that will cost around $8500.00. Daisy was then referred to a rehab clinic for underwater treadmill sessions and laser therapy on her hip. After consulting with Dr. Griffin of Paws rehab it was determined that Daisy also has a torn ACL ( Torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament). This is very common in dogs that have hip dysplasia or hip problems. This has progressively gotten worse over the last two months and will require surgery sooner than later. This procedure is called Tibial Plateau Levelling Osteotomy. Another expensive surgery costing around $4500.00 This surgery will need to be done first and foremost as her mobility now is limited. We are taking back in for X-rays March 19th  and then to see the surgeon. We have had to purchase a ramp and a harness in which we can carry Daisy up stairs to limit the impact on her knee and her hip. The ramp helps with her getting in and out of the SUV as to limit the impact on all of her joints. Her mobility is very limited and requires daily medication to help with the pain. We have been thankful enough to be able to take Daisy to PAWS Rehab every weekend where she gets to exercise her hip on an underwater treadmill where she gets to work on weight loss and building muscle. Another large expense but what we need to do to ensure Daisy has the best life possible. We are focused on getting her back to 100% mobility over time, but the sooner the better so she can live a healthy life.  We must focus on her knee as soon as possible.  She will have 10 to 12 weeks of recovery post surgery.  At this point we will wait a few months before we have the hip replacement and take the advice of our vet and the surgeon Daisy came to us for a reason and we want to be able to help her become free of pain and live a full healthy life. She misses playing with her ball everyday. With the limited insurance coverage we have it would not even cover a dent in her surgeries. Doug and I are not the type of people to ask for help and or assistance however to help our little girl overcome her past abuse and have her be able to play again its now the most important thing to both of us. It will be a very expensive journey but we will do what we have to so that Daisy can live out the rest of her life as a happy healthy dog. We thank you in advance if you are able to help her out. Whether it is sharing the link with your friends and family or donating to her surgery fund. We are in debt to you and Daisy will thank you for helping her out!! We appreciate you taking the time out to listen to her story. She is our precious special girl! And never did we realize the impact she would have on our lives and so many others. We will be sending weekly updates of her progression to share with all of you.
