The CPNI Community Center:  Transitional Support for Refugee Families

Cannabis Patients Network Institute (CPNI) envisions our Community Centers as transitional housing  for refuges families and critically ill individuals, and creative spaces, providing comfortable environments for patient leaders to meet, and offer counseling and support services.  The first center will be opening fall 2014 in Colorado Springs with future centers planned across the nation.

Objectives:

·        Offer refugee families a transition place to live while stabilizing their child’s health

·        Offer temporary housing assistance to critically ill individuals who are able to live independently

·        Provide a support group atmosphere where parents and patients can live and work together to achieve personal goals

·        Host patient meetings and small fundraising events

·        Studio space to conduct and video-tape patient interviews

·        Private counseling space for patients, caregivers, and family members

At this time, CPNI has more than a dozen families and individuals on a waiting list or asking for housing assistance in the Colorado Springs and Denver areas--several contact us each day seeking assistance.

With financial support, CPNI can help those in our community who are the most vulnerable.  Too often we hear of families and individuals sleeping in cars, hotels without even a refrigerator for food storage, and living in poor conditions—they all came to Colorado with one goal:  Health!  And yet they cannot afford the medication they came for, much less take care of their health given their living conditions.

It’s time for us all to reach out to our community members and offer them the helping hand they need.  Most families and individuals only need 3-6 months in Colorado before they are able to establish their own roots here or they may be leaving after just this temporary time—usually after completing a cannabis therapy treatment for cancer or gaining control of their seizure disorder or chronic pain issues.

Note:  Refugee residents will also contribute to research by working with recognized researchers and medical professionals on case studies of their child’s or their own health conditions, so that others may come to learn more about cannabis therapy.

One Time Contribution:

All contributions to support the CPNI Community Center will go directly to providing refugee housing assistance to families and individuals relocating to Colorado to engage in cannabis therapy.

Monthly Recurring Contribution:

Monthly contributors will be recognized in each CPNI Community Center with a banner or placque sharing information on their support, as well, each month residents and CPNI supporters will receive a report noting YOUR contribution to keeping this project running successfully and reducing the expenses each family/individual must bear.
