India 10.0: Changing the Face of AIDS!

TEN YEARS OF HIV WORK IN INDIA IS WHY WE CALL IT INDIA 10.0

Hughes Foundation is currently leading a year-long project called India 10.0: Changing the Face of AIDS!
Your support will go towards 17 orphans living with HIV and raising them into healthy youth. Your support will also provide an ambluance to take 5-10 children per day to the hospital to recieve their life-changing treatment. There is no service of advocacy of hope for children born with HIV - your donation will save 1,000 children in 5 months.
Your support will also launch an HF center that will provide free HIV tests, HIV prevention courses, HIV/AIDS counseling - literally changing the face of AIDS before your own eyes!
We need you and people in your network who are passionate to become one-time donors, monthly donors or sponsors of the event.
We need to raise $10,000 by December 31st for the 5 month-long budget.
WHY IN THE WORLD INDIA?
- Ten years of HIV Advocacy work in India saving lives
- Ten years of strong partnerships in India
- Ten years of giving hope through youth camps, religious leaders retreats, HIV prevention courses, LGBT Advocacy, women’s retreats, medical camps and more
- Enormous lack of resources for people living with HIV/AIDS and need for strong HIV/AIDS messaging and nonprofit like HF
WHY IS JERRY, THE FOUNDER OF HF, SO PASSIONATE?
- Ten years living with HIV and ten courageous years giving hope to the nation of India through his diagnosis
- Jerry feels that we should go where we are called – India is definitely where he feels called right now
- He is giving up his apartment, car and lifestyle in the USA to serve along side long-time partnerships in India on behalf of the mission of HF
WHAT ARE THE MAIN GOALS FOR INDIA 10.0?
1. PARTNER WITH AN ORPHANAGE CARING FOR 17 CHILDREN LIVING WITH HIV/AIDS:
- Sponsor each child, which will provide their HIV medications, schooling and nutrition (They have lost their parents to AIDS – we will be their “parent.”)
- Provide activities and counseling that will help each child see their bright future (Most children don’t think they have a future – but we do!)
2. LAUNCH HUGHES FOUNDATION (HF) CENTER, WHICH WILL:
- Provide free HIV tests (Early testing saved Jerry’s life which allowed him to continue living a healthy life…everyone deserves this opportunity)
- Lead weekly HIV prevention courses (HIV is 100% preventable…we want to eliminate all new cases in Nagpur and all of India)
- Hold weekly support groups and counseling for people living with HIV/AIDS (Since stigma and abandonment is so high in India we become their family for support)
- Be a safe place for anyone persecuted because of their HIV/AIDS status (Need we say more?)
- Serve as administrative office for HF staff and volunteers
