GDHA Time to Catch Up
Donation protected
"Time to Catch Up" is a campaign of the Georgia Dental Hygienists' Association to raise awareness of the oral health needs in Georgia and the provision of preventive care offered by registered dental hygienists.
The question most often asked when seeking legislative change is what do you want? Our answer is simply to "catch up" with how hygienists practice dental hygiene across the nation.
This campaign is focused on making change that would align our laws and rules with the normal supervision guidelines and scope of practice observed in a vast majority of states.

*Since 1971 dental hygienists in other states have been permitted to give local anesthesia under dental supervision safely with no increase of malpractice insurance to dental employers.
*Currently, 44 other states and the District of Columbia allow registered dental hygienists to administer local anesthesia.

*Charity Clinics in Georgia are writing request to the Georgia Board of Dentistry asking for their hygienists to have the same freedom to practice under general supervision as observed in the Dept of Public Health and Correctional facilities of Georgia.
