Hey, this is Cara. So many kids write my charity pleading to go to weight loss camp.
Just know that very single dollar you can give counts and whatever you can afford is so appreciated. We love you forever - whether you can afford to donate or not - just for reading this page and learning more about our charity, which means the world to us.
Any donations, large or small, will go directly to sending overweight kids to weight loss camp this summer.
The goal is to raise at least 30k in 30 days, so time is of the essence and critical. Obesity is recognized as a disease in America and there are so many sick kids that have contacted the charity that we want to accommodate and do not have much time to raise the funds to do it. Therefore, I would call the situation urgent as camp is just around the corner and the kids are so hopeful I can't fathom saying no to them. I would love if America could help these few special kids get healthy. These kids need a break, as I presonally know - we all need a break sometimes!
Kids write in with so many stories - Today a kid wrote me that is in foster care and begging us to take him, he wants to lose weight so the other kids that live with him stop picking on him and pinching his stomach. One kid's doctor said if he does not lose weight asap he will surely get diabetes- his Mother has no idea how to cook healthy and blames herself and feels so guilty she keeps calling us. Another girl just lost her mother and needs the inspiration to lose weight, she desperately wants to come to camp. Seriously the stories don't end they just pour in and I feel terrible.
If you were stuck out at sea drowning you would hope someone would throw you a life jacket. That is the way I look at charity.
In this special case you can throw a kid a life jacket. Send (or contribute to sending) an obese kid to a camp that can literally help save their life by teaching them the critical skill of losing weight.
